Challenge Wales can offer RYA Start Yachting, RYA Competent Crew, RYA Watchleader aswell as RYA First Aid and VHF courses.

RYA First Aid

This one day RYA First Aid course will provide you with a basic knowledge of First Aid and is aimed at those who are motor boat or yacht owners, racers, windsurfers, water sports enthusiasts and ocean rowers. The First Aid Course is recognised by the MCA and fulfils the requirements of professional skippers of small craft working up to 60 miles from a safe haven. The certificate is valid for 3 years and the course also includes practical AED training.

VHF Course

If you have a VHF radio, or a handheld radio, whilst on the water then you need to hold an operators licence. The Short Range Certificate (SRC) is the minimum qualification legally required to operate a VHF and is a one day course with an assessment (exam).

RYA Start Yachting

A short, basic, introductory sailing course for beginners which takes place over two consecutive days. Holders of an RYA Start Yachting qualification can obtain the RYA Competent Crew qualification with an additional three days of further training. Most voyages of 2 days or more onboard Challenge Wales or Adventure Wales can qualify for this award.
