Skipper(s) | Seasonal
We are looking to grow our pool of amazing skippers for our 2020 season who will be leading our volunteer crew and inspiring the many young people we have onboard. We are looking for a full time (seasonal) Skipper to work across both our vessels, 72-ft Challenge Wales and 60-ft Adventure Wales.

Deadline for applications has been extended to 29th February 2020 however, as this post is being re-advertised this closing deadline may finish earlier if the right candidate can be found.
Although this is a seasonal role for the right candidate there could be winter / overseas opportunities too for 2020/2021.

Relief Skippers are part of our super-duper team and help deliver our sail training services when our Seasonal Skippers are on leave. These roles are on a day rate basis. There will be limited opportunities but we expect to work with Relief Skippers during the summer season months in particular for day and residential voyages. They are important roles and ideal for those looking for flexible/additional sailing opportunities during the season.

Volunteering can be a really rewarding experience giving you an opportunity to pass down your experiences, knowledge and life skills to others. Challenge Wales is currently looking for volunteer crew. This is an unpaid position and a minimum commitment is required. To be eligible to be a volunteer crew you need to have a minimum of RYA Day Skipper OR at least 2 years sailing experience and have a basic knowledge of sailing OR have experience in outdoor adventure, teaching, youth work or instructing OR been on one of our longer voyages of 3 days or more and been recommended by the Skipper to apply to be a volunteer.
There are opportunities to be volunteer competent crew, volunteer watchleaders and volunteer Mate’s. And, for those volunteers who are keen to take on additional responsibilities there is progression opportunities to Skipper roles too (as detailed above).
