"Challenge Wales is a great opportunity for young people"

Just a quick note of thanks for a fantastic 2-day trip onboard Challenge Wales. As a national youth organisation we are always looking for new and innovative ways to promote personal, social and moral development of our young people, and what an opportunity we had on Challenge Wales! We worked together, communicated and listened to each other and got hands-on with all aspects of sailing. The crew were fantastic, patient and professional and their passion for sailing and for passing on their skills shone through. A great experience, and the best thing, we all had bags of fun! I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Challenge Wales to other youth groups, and I hope we can work with them again in the future!Laura Davies, Outdoor Activity Development Officer, Clubs for Young People Wales

I felt that I should write a few words to thank you for the recent trip with Penarth Squadron, Air Cadets. From the moment we stepped aboard the boat I knew that our cadets were in for a special treat. The skill and professionalism of the skipper and crew was obvious from the outset, from the thorough briefing given to everyone to the way that they encouraged each of our youngsters to participate in every aspect of the running of the boat from manning the helm to raising sail. To be given the chance to operate as a close-knit team working very 'hands-on' to sail such a large and powerful yacht is something that will, I know, remain with each cadet for a long time and I cannot recommend a better way to motivate and teach young people the benefits of team work whilst having fun. Young people learn most when they do something different, exciting, challenging and enjoyable. Challenge Wales is all of these. Ken Pudney, Regional Adventurous Training Technical Officer, Wales & West Region, Air Training Corps.

The day Team 97, who had never been on a 72-ft yacht before, spent with Challenge Wales in the Bristol Channel was truly magical. Our day spent on Challenge Wales made my team realise that they can do anything. I cannot wait to being my next team on board and thanks for a truly special day! Dionne Ford, Princes Trust Team Leader, c/o South Wales Police & South Wales Fire Service.

As a volunteer I have had some experience of sailing smaller boats but having the opportunity to sail the 72ft Challenge Wales yacht was fantastic. It will be a great opportunity for young people of Wales and a fantastic opportunity for businesses to get involved and show their support Vicky

The young people who sailed on Challenge Wales came back full of praise for the boat and its crew. The young people, who have challenging behaviour, applied themselves to the duties they carried out. The desired outcomes of improved self-esteem, working together, and responding positively to instructions were all completely achieved. I would recommend Challenge Wales to anyone looking to provide a unique experience which will benefit the lives of young people. Matthew Burns, Principal, Headlands School, Action for Children.

My son (aged 12) and I thought the day out on the boat was brilliant. He said it was great, fantastic, everyone was so friendly and showed me everything I needed to know and I had great fun helming – it was awesome. We got the spinnaker up and it was exciting tacking with the genoa. Must, and cannot wait to, go back! Liam
