Mate / Relief Skipper
The Mate/Relief Skipper is a key role supporting and assisting the Skipper in delivering the services of Challenge Wales. The post holder will be skippering on delivery voyages and when the Skipper is on leave. As crew on Challenge Wales is made up of volunteers, the post holder will also be required to supervise volunteers during any refit/maintenance programme.

The role has been created as the Challenge Wales charity is supported by the European Regional Development Fund through Welsh Government and through the Social Business Growth Fund, which is managed by WCVA (Welsh Council of Voluntary Action).
Skipper (Freelance / Seasonal)
To Skipper on both Challenge Wales (Challenge 72) and Adventure Wales (Ocean 60). The post-holder will deliver instruction and motivate young people. The majority of the role is working with young people with a small proportion being adult fundraising trips/corporate experiences. The Skipper is responsible for the overall day to day running of the vessel, its safety, SMS compliance, operational efficiency and delivering a fun and exciting voyage.
Deadline for Applications: Midnight Wednesday 18th April 2018. We will consider applications for Skipper at various times throughout the year and the post will remain open until we have the right candidate.
Challenge Wales is currently looking for volunteer crew. This is an unpaid position and a minimum commitment is required. To be eligible to be a volunteer crew you need to have a minimum of RYA Day Skipper OR at least 2 years sailing experience and have a basic knowledge of sailing OR have experience in outdoor adventure, teaching, youth work or instructing OR been on one of our longer voyages of 3 days or more and been recommended by the Skipper to apply to be a volunteer.
